Sometimes it takes a while to find the really good stuff in any given category.  Since we have been so lucky as to have talents such as The Little Country Giants and the everybodyfields  surfacing virtually out of our own backyard, it has been easy to get spoiled with this level of entertainment. Now at least according to the music on their CD The Dixie Bee Liners seem to have moved into the regional upsurge of  traditional  Americana style music with all the melodic panache and  technical proficiency  needed to capture our hearts & imaginations all over again.  All the elements are here, captivating voices and wonderfully melodic songwriting and instrumentation that is both original and traditional at the same time.

In becoming enamored with our previously mentioned heroes, we sometimes have the tendency to overplay, over book and generally overdo a great thing out off sheer lack of company (or competition..) This team consisting of Brandi  Hart and Buddy Woodward  along with a very soulfully skilled team of backing musicians is another gem of  the new 21st Century  Appalachian heritage style that has everything needed to capture the  attention of a radio listening audience as well as  please the more musically critical of this very picky and surprisingly sophisticated fanbase.  Perhaps The Dixie Be Liners  have a bit more in common with “Nickel Creek,” than The Little Country Giants but it seems that we in the southeast   Tennesee & North Georgia area could be  in for our next big Americana treat with The Dixie Bee Liners out of Abingdon, VA.

But with all this praise comes a downside, at this moment it is still in doubt if we will be able do get the Dixie Bee Liners for my proposed concert on March 17th, St Patricks day, when every other venue in town is sponsoring rock bands.  This could be the only traditional country, Americana show around on that evening.  The problem is that the band tells me their expenses to come down for one show will outweigh The Barking Legs Theatre’s capacity to generate capital.   Now with these excellent CD’s in hand I’m hoping we can generate enough interest among the Americana fans to somehow come to a solution.  It has been suggested that I obtain sponsorship for the event and ask for donations. (Begging for money seems like a lot of potentially fruitless labor to me…)  However if we could get enough warm bodies committed to occupy the seats that would be ultimately better than donations.

And as always I am more than willing to spread the credit for anyone who helps bring this modern cultural revolution to bloom within our community.  Maybe Chattanooga really is poised to be a springboard for the Americana revolution.

Maybe we’ll just crap out for lack of enthusiasm by the people who hold the keys to make it happen.  Maybe we’ll put together another great show that will have people talking all year long . (It’s been a year since the biggest ArtFRONT show with Little Country Giants, No River City & Mandi Rae.)

Anyone with any suggestions or help to offer is urged to contact me immediately.

Yours truly.

All songs on this 8 song Disk are completely radio friendly, with the “Hit” being possibly “Lost in Silence.”  “Yellow haired Girl” my favorite for most traditional style, Brown eyed Darlin & Family Tree great for a humorous male perspective, Lord Lay Down my Ball & Chain, will appeal to the more bluesy oriented fans.  Play it all.
