Title: “3 and a Half Stars”
Another Gem from Jason Dooley and a few partners.
The Production on this is pretty amazing although it’s way more synthesizer heavy than his first release. Guitars are relegated to rock power chords but a very solid little E.P.
Mermaid Police has just completed their second CD's worth of analog synth heavy songs on the heels of last year's debut recording, which was easily among the best records in Chattanooga music history. Jason Dooley's work has been compared to Brian Wilson's before but the new release will make You think someone commissioned a modern sequel where “Smile” left off. Most local bands CD's are just a string of songs thrown together but this tiny digital opera is put together much like the concept albums of the (now) classic rock era. The new material is the equivalent of a sonic mood elevator with enough heavy rock chords to offset the blissfully sweet elements in a perfect balance. Recording tech geeks will marvel at how one guy put together such a sleek, full, rich soundscape.
The most Dynamic songs recommended for radio play are
1. Eagle Style
2 .Orange Juice Line Dance
8. How it Falls
