Jenette Mackie built Polly Panic on the back of an
electrified and often distorted cello married with bombastic drums & Sylvia
Plath like lyrics. Hardly delicate, the music of Polly Panic delivers intense
range of emotion and flirts with anger and sarcasm through grinding cello
strings. Compared to the vocal stylings of PJ Harvey & Tori Amos, Mackie
wails out powerfully in charismatic tones. Bow in hand, she attacks each verse
of song with rabid symphony, leaping anxiously up the scales & then
plunging back down to the resonating sound of the cello’s bottom lows. The
result is a sound truly beautiful, dark and unforgettable.
Jenette Mackie was trained
classically at Crane School Of Music in Potsdam NY but chose to end her
curriculum early to pursue her own independent study with a private tutor. Soon after she began building on her life-long
vision of twisting the classical cello to the dark side of music. After 2-years
of struggles and searching, she got the lead on a drummer from Dansville NY who
had played in the legendary underground group Poor Old Lu of Seattle
Washington. Jenette met Jesse Sprinkle in the fall of 2005 and within the same
week they were in The Wavestation Studio in Geneseo NY recording a 3 song demo
CD. Their first full-length album “Painkiller” is now available .
