After hearing  The Bridges incredible vocal harmonies online  I drove to Nashville

to see them perform at Radio Café.  By doing so I also discovered Harrison Hudson, another excellent young power-pop style songwriter & performer.

The Bridges strong melodic framework, thoughtfully developed lyrics and tightly structured arrangements are, I’m hoping, a sign that skilled musicianship could be making a comeback among the newest and youngest set of rock & pop groups.

The Bridges are composed of 4 girls and a guy, Natalie Byrd (keyboards vocals & guitar,) Stacey Byrd, (vocals & electric guitar,) Isaaca Byrd, (bass & vocals) & Jeremy Byrd, (drums & vocals,) are all sisters & brother.  Brittany Painter (lead vocals,) is their first cousin. They have that indescribable meshing vocal harmony that only happens in the occasional family group, many of  whom have risen to the top and taken a place in our musical legacy.

While talking to Brittany Painter, the lead vocalist and principal songwriter about their future plans I learned that Matthew Sweet has also taken notice of their talent and will be recording their next 4 to 5 song demo in his own home studio in Los Angeles During the last part of September & early October, so hopefully we will have a brand new CD from them before their concert date in Chattanooga on Oct. 21.

All this technical virtue plus the fact that they range in ages from 22 (Natalie & Britany) to 16 (Isaaca, the bass player,) and they all write and play their instruments impressively as well as sing some of the most compelling three & 4 part harmonies I’ve heard is coupled with their gorgeous looks & seems to me a formula for something phenomenal to look out for in the entertainment biz for years to come.
